John D. Avera is from London, KY in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. He is the Student and Worship pastor at a local church and is also a Music Teacher in two elementary schools. John is also a 1st degree black belt in Tai Kwon Do. He is an advocate of safe schools.

Ella Minnow Peed is a story about a small fish named Ella. Ella really wants to go to school but knows that the other kids will make fun of her because she is small. She goes throughout her day listening to her classmates bullying her until, finally, things change. She goes to music class.
